Edcouch- Teodora L. Navarro, 80, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. She was born April 1, 1936 to Alvaro & Dionisia Leija in Edcouch.
Teodora is survived by her son, Juan (Maria G.) Navarro, Jr.; daughter, San Juanita Irene (Juan J. San Roman) Villanueva and Brenda Villalpando. Also surviving her are brothers, Alvaro Leija, Jr., Juan Jose Leija, Reynaldo Leija; sisters, Rosa Del Toro, Juanita Cavazos, Elisa Alonzo; 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and numerous nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Juan Navarro, Sr.; parents; brother, Jose “Polo” Leija; sister, Evelia Torres; and great-grandson, Juan A. Chapa. Teodora dedicated 20 years working for Edcouch-Elsa I.S.D. in the nutrition department.
Viewing will be held Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Viewing will continue Friday, September 23, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresita Catholic Church in Edcouch. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
