WESLACO – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of San Juanita Ortiz, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished matriarch, who entered eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on March 20, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on February 20, 1951, in Mercedes, Texas, San Juanita dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker, always placing the needs of her loved ones above her own.

San Juanita was a woman whose life was defined by love, warmth, and selfless care. She had a special bond with her children and especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her home was a place of comfort and togetherness, often filled with the familiar aroma of her homemade tortillas, a reflection of the love she poured into every meal she prepared. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: gathering with family, sharing laughter and stories, playing bingo with friends, and spending quiet moments watching her favorite novelas.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesus R. Ortiz, Jr., and her parents, Elias and Lorenza Garcia.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her beloved children, Jesus Ortiz III, Irene Ramos, and Mary Jane Ortiz. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her love and legacy in their hearts.

San Juanita’s life was a beautiful reflection of unconditional love, devotion, and strength. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Chapel in Edcouch.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 9:00 AM, with interment to follow at La Blanca Cemetery in La Blanca.
