Rosa R. Montelongo, 85, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at her La Villa residence. She was born September 2, 1928 to Daniel & Maria Rodriguez in Stuart Place, TX.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Miguel Montelongo, parents; Daniel & Mary Rodriguez, sons; David Anselmo Montelongo and Benito Montelongo, brothers; Daniel Rodriguez, Jr. and Paulo Rodriguez. Rosa is survived by her sons; Benjamin Montelongo, Miguel Montelongo, Jr., Valentin Montelongo, Baldemar Montelongo, daughters; Maria de la Luz Solis, Guillermina Montelongo, Janet Montelongo, Maria de Jesus Gaitan, Guadalupe M. Hernandez, Azusena M. Alvarado, Florestela Montelongo, brothers; Santos Rodriguez and Eliberto Rodriguez, sisters; Guadalupe R. Olivarez, Ester R. Hernandez and Socorro R. Silva, 60 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and numerous great great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Cardoza Funeral Home in Edcouch. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in La Villa. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
