La Villa – Petra C. Espericueta, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2016 at her residence in La Villa, TX. She was born July 1, 1922 to (+)Demetrio and (+)Marcelina Castillo in La Villa, TX.
Petra is survived by her sons: Guadalupe (Ida) Espericueta, Jr., Jesus (Maria Elena) Espericueta, Toribio (Susana) Espericueta, and Ramon Espericueta; daughters: Florestela (Jose “Pepe”) Villarreal, Maria Elena (+Rogelio) Perez, Mary Espericueta, and Viola (Israel) Villarreal; 27 Grandchildren; 77 Great-grandchildren; and 15 Great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Jesusa Cavazos, Cruz Ortiz, and Ramona Piña.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Espericueta; a son, Juan Espericueta; and a daughter, Viola Espericueta. Petra is also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Jose (Consuelo) Castillo, Gregorio (Elisa) Castillo, and Luz (Nena) Castillo; and her sisters: Maria (Francisco) Garza, and Hilda (Juan) Ortiz.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Viewing will continue Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in La Villa, TX. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, TX.
