Melinda Arias passed away on August 28, 2026, in La Villa, Texas, at the age of 68.
Melinda will be remembered for her beautiful soul, her joyful spirit, and her contagious laugh that brought smiles to everyone around her. She loved God and held a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, a faith that guided her throughout her life. Her family was at the center of her heart, and she also had a special love for her pets and the many plants she lovingly cared for. Melinda was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan who rarely missed a game, and she found great joy in cooking for the people she loved. Her homemade tamales were a family favorite, bringing everyone together around the table. She also loved music and cherished being surrounded by those she cared about most. Through her faith, kindness, love, and joy, she leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Cruz Garcia (Melissa) and daughter, Juanita Garcia. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren, Javier Garcia, Chris Garcia, Ryan Maldonado and Oscar Hernandez. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings Regina Rodriguez, Rosa Gutierrez (Roy), Elida Rodriguez (Robert), Jesus Rodriguez, Jr., Armando Rodriguez, Herminia Granado (Mike), Irene Rodriguez, Olga Villarreal (Eloy) and Norma Rodriguez. Each of them carries forward treasured memories of Melinda’s warmth, laughter, and loving presence.
She was preceded in death by her common law husband, Reynaldo Roman; father, Jesus Rodriguez; mother, Maria Arias Rodriguez; her brother, Ruben Rodriguez; her sister, Sylvia Rodriguez and her grandmother, Herminia Tamez.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Melinda's life on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Chapel in Edcouch. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in La Villa. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
Melinda Arias will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always by her family, her friends, and all who were blessed to share in her life.
