LA VILLA – Maria Guadalupe Tamez, 101, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Paxvilla Hospice in McAllen. She was born September 7, 1916 to Manuel & Paula Tamez in Rivera, TX.
Maria is survived by her daughter, Irma Tamez; granddaughter, Lorena (Jesus Davila) Tamez; great-grandchildren, Jay Davila and Jon Davila; brother, Uvaldo Tamez; and sister, Antonia Tamez Tinney. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vicente Tamez; brothers, Francisco Tamez, Jesus Tamez, and Alejandro Tamez; and sisters, Sophia Tamez Garcia, Genoveva Tamez Lerma, and Dolores Tamez Beltran.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Eleazar Garza, Jr., Daniel Garza, Roel Aleman, Rogelio Aleman, Javier de La Garza, and Lupe Saenz, Jr. Honorary pallbearers; Jesus Davila, Jon Davila, and Jay Davila.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Viewing will continue Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. with a Chapel Service at 10:00 a.m. at CARDOZA Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
