ELSA

ELSA - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria De Los Angeles Segura, who left us peacefully on June 5, 2025, at the age of 53. Born on July 21, 1971, in Weslaco, Texas, Maria was a cherished member of the community and a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

Maria spent her life dedicated to serving others, having devoted 28 years as a catechist at Sacred Heart, where she shared her profound faith and love for teaching with countless students. Her passion for nurturing young minds was matched only by her deep love for her family. Maria adored spending time with her grandchildren, showering them with affection and wisdom, and creating wonderful memories that they will forever cherish. Maria dedicated 20 years as an Imaging Specialist for Rio Bank and also led the department.

Throughout her life, Maria found joy in many things. She loved to read, travel to new places, and attend concerts with her husband, Oscar. An avid sports fan, Maria had a deep-rooted passion for the Atlanta Braves and the Green Bay Packers, often cheering for her teams with unbridled enthusiasm. Holidays were a special time for her, where she would decorate her home with love, embrace festive traditions, and create an atmosphere of warmth and joy.

Maria's spiritual life was profound; she had a special devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and found comfort in praying the Rosary. She enjoyed watching her favorite shows, including Grey's Anatomy, Yellowstone, and American Idol, always relishing the moments spent in joyful company.

Maria's legacy will live on through her family. She taught them all that love, faith, and community are the cornerstones of a fulfilling life.

Maria is preceded in death by her loving parents Rodrigo and Maria Trevino.

Maria leaves behind her husband Oscar Segura and her children Kristan Danielle (Michael) Espinoza and Oscar Segura, Jr., grandchildren Micah Garza, Emery Espinoza, Stella Espinoza and Adam Espinoza. She is also survived by her siblings Rodrigo Trevino Jr., Jesus Trevino and Nora Guillen.

Family and Friends will gather on Monday, June 9, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Chapels in Edcouch. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsa. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.

Maria will be deeply missed, but her love, teachings, and legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
