Maria Contreras

MERCEDES – Maria Anna Contreras, 58, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. She was born January 11, 1960 to Felix L. & Maria Contreras in Mercedes.

Maria is survived by son, Juan Francisco Alvarado; daughters, Cecilia Alvarado and Raquel Sanchez; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is also survived by her father; brothers, Lorenzo Contreras and Juan Jose Contreras; sisters, Rosalinda Villarreal, Normalinda Contreras, Paulina Torres, Esther Herrera, Elizabeth Guerrero, and San Juanita Lopez. She is preceded in death by her mother; and husband, Juan Alvarado.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Viewing will continue Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Progreso. Interment will follow at Toluca Cemetery in Progreso.
