Mercedes – Margarito Briones, 95, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Aurora House in Weslaco, TX. He was born January 3, 1922 to Cipriano & Petra Valdez in Weslaco, TX.
Margarito is survived by his daughters, Vicenta (Alfredo) Valdez and Dora (Santos) Leija; brother, Francisco Briones; sisters, Guadalupe ‘Lupita’ Villarreal and Janie Martinez; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchild and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Paula Briones; son, Rogelio Briones; parents; brothers, Ramon and Pablo Briones; and sisters, Isabel Flores and Maria Bruno; and grandson, Roberto Valdez.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on both days. Viewing will continue Friday, August 4, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mercedes. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
