ELSA - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Manuel Romero, beloved father, friend, and community member, who departed this life on December 4, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on April 30, 1945, Manuel lived a life full of kindness, generosity, and passion, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Manuel was a talented welder, known for his dedication and craftsmanship. He spent many joyful afternoons going shopping at Walmart, Dollar Tree, and HEB, where he would often be seen sharing a smile with those around him. His humble nature and welcoming spirit opened doors to friendships with numerous individuals in his community.
Manuel was a compassionate soul who devoted his time to feeding the less fortunate, a true testament to his generous heart.
Manuel took immense joy in cooking, and his meals brought comfort to many. He shared his love for music through his guitar and often sang his favorite tune, "Cielito Lindo," filling the air with warmth and joy. His exuberance for life was vibrant, showcased in his passion for dancing and the joy he brought to various celebrations.
Manuel is preceded in death by his loving wife Francisca G. Romero, parents Manuel and Blaza Romero, and brother Ramon Romero.
Manuel is survived by his beloved daughters Angie (George) Rivera, Myrna Romero (Frank Sutton), and Jessica Romero (Roberto Honorato), grandchildren; Gina Marie, Vanessa, George III, Diego, Delilah Celeste, Renée Marie, Lee Roy, Gizzell Lee, Erin Danielle, and Rodney Jay, 18 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter Zena. Manuel is also survived by his siblings Valentin Romero, Jesus Romero, Dora Garcia, Maria Alfaro, Manuel Romero and Antonio Romero.
Family and Friends will gather on Monday, December 8, 2025 and Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM on both evenings.
Funeral mass will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsa. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
Manuel will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts as a shining example of humility, compassion, and joy. May he rest in peace.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dr. Joseph Conde and staff at Serenity Funeral Chapels located on 1401 E. Santa Rosa Ave Edcouch, Texas 78538.
