Jose Luis Tamez

Jose Luis Tamez, affectionately known to many as Joey, passed away on August 22, 2026, in Edcouch, Texas. He was born on September 18, 1970, in Weslaco, Texas. His passing leaves a deep sorrow in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, while also bringing to mind a life marked by devotion to family, friendship, hard work, and generosity.

Joey was a man who found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved fishing and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, always carrying that loyal spirit with him. He enjoyed cooking BBQ, gathering family and friends together, and making memories around food, laughter, and conversation. He loved to swim and treasured time spent with the people closest to him. Joey was also known for his giving heart, always ready to help friends in need. That kindness and willingness to give back became part of the way so many will remember him.

For more than 30 years, Joey drove semis, dedicating himself to a life of hard work and perseverance. His years on the road reflected his strength, commitment, and determination to provide and to keep moving forward through life with steady purpose. That same spirit carried into the relationships he built and the example he set for those around him.

Above all, Joey loved being with his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Jose Tamez, Jr, and by his daughters, Jasmine Tamez, Priscilla Tamez, and Kimberly Tamez, who will carry his memory forward with love. He is also survived by his father, Leonardo Romo, and his mother, Rafaela Arispe; his brothers, Roberto Arispe and Michael Arispe; his sisters, Norma Tamez and Maribel Tamez; and by his aunt and uncle who raised him, Elva and Gilberto Salazar. Each of them shared in the love, presence, and lasting bond that Joey brought into their lives.

Jose Luis Tamez will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of family, his loyalty to friends, and the warmth he brought wherever he went. His memory will live on in the stories told, the meals shared, the games watched, and the many acts of kindness that reflected the man he was. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

As per Joey's wishes he will be cremated at a later date.
