EDINBURG-Jose Manuel Salas, a gentle soul cherished by all who knew him, departed this life on July 3, 2026, in Edinburg, Texas, at the age of 77. Born on November 18, 1948, in Montemorelos, Mexico, Jose’s journey through life was marked by warmth, quiet dignity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
To his family and close friends, Jose was more than simply a beloved husband, sibling, and stepfather, he was a steadfast presence, the kind of person whose calm strength offered both comfort and reassurance through joys and sorrows alike. His memory will be lovingly carried forward by his devoted wife, Teresa Olsen, who stood beside him through every season of life, finding in Jose a true partner and friend. Jose also leaves behind his step-son, Carl Olsen, who benefited from Jose’s gentle guidance and caring heart.
The precious bonds of family were always central to Jose’s life. He is survived by his brothers, Arturo Salas and Lino de Jesus Salas, and by his sister, Hilda Salas. Each shared in the laughter, challenges, and heartaches of a life lived with togetherness at its core. Though Jose mourned the loss of his brother David Salas, who preceded him in death, the legacy of familial love that bound them continues on in cherished stories and treasured memories.
Jose’s roots in Montemorelos, Mexico instilled in him a quiet perseverance and kindness that shaped his every interaction. Those who met him, whether in his community or at home, found in Jose someone who listened deeply and offered words of encouragement, never seeking the spotlight but always generous with his time and affection. His life’s journey brought him to Edinburg, Texas, where he continued to foster friendships and nurture the connections that gave so much meaning to his days.
