EDINBURG

EDINBURG-With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life so dearly cherished, we announce the passing of Irene Garcia, who left this world on June 25, 2026, in McAllen, Texas. Born on December 17, 1954, in Edinburg, Texas, Irene lived a life woven into the fabric of her family, friends, and community her spirit shining steadfastly through it all.

Irene’s story began in the gentle warmth of Edinburg, where she entered the world as the beloved daughter of Elias Garcia, Jr. and Adelia Ramirez Garcia. Their legacy of love, care, and resilience was one Irene carried forward with quiet strength, humility, and kindness.

Throughout her years, Irene’s unwavering devotion to her loved ones defined the very heart of her existence. Her deep and abiding love as a mother illuminated the path for her beloved son, Gerardo Garcia. That bond is one of infinite tenderness, built upon shared joys, gentle guidance, and the unconditional love that only a mother can give. In times both celebratory and challenging, she remained a pillar of support, nurturing her family with the same devotion she herself received as a daughter.

Irene also shared treasured relationships with her common law husband, Fortunato Salinas Garza, sister, Elia Pena and brother, Elias Garcia, Jr. who now remain, touched by her boundless affection, steadfast loyalty, and the multitude of memories built across the years. The footsteps of those who journeyed before her are: her sister Rozanna Pena and her parents, Elias Garcia, Sr. and Adelia Ramirez Garcia echo in the stories and laughter that shaped Irene’s days and in the legacy she leaves behind.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Irene's life on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.

Although she is no longer physically with us, Irene Garcia’s legacy remains woven into every life she touched and remembered in each loving embrace, shared story, and act of kindness inspired by her gentle hand. Her memory will be a guiding light, her love an enduring comfort, and her presence a cherished blessing for all who knew her.

As we say farewell to Irene, may her spirit continue to live on in all of us, a testament to a life of devotion, warmth, and unconditional love.
