Hilario Gaytan Leija

PHARR - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hilario Gaytan Leija, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor, who departed this life on November 30, 2025, at the age of 68. Hilario was born on October 21, 1957, in Dr. Arroyo,  Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and later made his home in Pharr, Texas, where he was known and loved by many.

A true family man at heart, Hilario cherished every moment spent with his beloved children. He derived immense joy from creating lasting memories with his family and friends, especially while watching Houston Texans football games. His passion for the sport brought loved ones together, filled with laughter and camaraderie.

Hilario is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Luciana Gaytan and his brother Francisco Gaytan.

Hilario is survived by his children Tammy Tijerina, Cynthia (Fortino) Torres, Monica Gaytan, Corey Michael (Carolina) Gaytan, Desirae (Jody) Salamanca, Samantha Gaytan, 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Hilario is also survived by his siblings Rosa Gaytan Vasquez, Eva Gaytan, Elida Gaytan, Tomas Gaytan, and Maximo Gaytan. He will also be missed by two grandpups.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Chapel. As per Hilario's wishes, cremation will follow at a later date.

Hilario's warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be remembered. He will be profoundly missed by all, but his love and legacy will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dr. Joseph Conde and staff at Serenity Funeral Chapels located on 1401 E. Santa Rosa Ave Edcouch, Texas 78538.
