EDINBURG - Gerardo "Jerry" Xavier Flores, a devoted husband, father, and cherished family man, passed away on August 31, 2025, at the age of 55, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on June 8, 1970, in Laredo, Texas, Jerry made his home in Edinburg, Texas, where he lived a life full of love, laughter, and faith. He was a man who carried God with him every day, and his faith guided the way he lived. To Jerry, family was everything. His wife and children were the center of his world, and he devoted his life to being present for them, supporting them, and making sure they always felt deeply loved. Whether it was gathering around a football game, firing up the grill for a barbecue, or making sure everyone had a plate of food in front of them, he showed his love through generosity, kindness, and presence.
Jerry was also a gifted welder who took great pride in his craft. Welding was more than just a career to him - it was something he truly loved. With skillful hands, a strong work ethic, and a creative spirit, he poured himself into every project, finding fulfillment in building and creating.
A true Louisiana spirit at heart, Jerry found joy in the simple pleasures of life - a good plate of seafood, country music, and the excitement of football, especially when there was a friendly bet on the line. His laughter, his stories, and his warm hospitality made everyone feel welcome, and to know him was to feel like family.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father in law Manuel Ornelas and brother in law Moses Ornelas
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Melinda Ornelas Flores, his children, Jonathan Alexander Flores, Jacob Anthony Flores and Amanda Marie (Marc Anthony) Vasquez, parents Dalia (Enrique) Hernandez and Rolando Flores. Jerry is also survived by his siblings Rolando Flores, Jr. and Jessica Joy (Cesar) Sifuentes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Chapel. As per Jerry's wishes, cremation will be at a later date.
His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
