EDCOUCH - Blas Rodriguez, 67 entered eternal rest peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Friday, September 19, 2025 in Weslaco.
Blas was known for his big heart and generous spirit. He never turned away anyone in need and was always ready to help however he could. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, he served as a firefighter in Edcouch, Texas. Later in life, he worked as a construction worker, auto mechanic, and wore many other hats always willing to put in the hard work for those he cared about.
He will be remembered not only for his dedication to his family and community, but also for the things he loved most: fishing, watching wrestling, lifting weights, and cheering on his favorite football teams.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Guadalupe “Lupita”, and his siblings Guadalupe “Lupe” and Maria “Cookie.”
.Blas will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 40 years, Maria Linda Rodriguez, and his children: Marsha (Jesus) Rodriguez, Blas Jr. (April) Rodriguez, Viviana (Robert) Blas, and Vanessa (Jaime). He was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and he leaves behind numerous other cherished family members and friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their final respects to a remarkable man on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Chapel in Edcouch.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 9:00 AM at St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Edcouch. Interment will follow at Anahuac Community Cemetery in Edcouch.
Blas's legacy of love, strength, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
